The Pottermore House Cup is a hugely popular part of Pottermore.com and maintaining the integrity of the competition is important so that it continues to be enjoyed by all.
Many of our Pottermore members have raised concerns about user accounts that seem to be using unfair methods to quickly score large numbers of Pottermore house points.
With the start of the next Pottermore House Cup this week we are stepping up our efforts to ensure the fairness of the Pottermore House Cup for all. We have measures in place to prevent or detect unusual house point scoring, and will deduct house points where strong evidence of unfair play is found.
For example, we've addressed cases with questionable activity, such as a user account that seemingly completed 1,560 duels in less than 6 hours, a spell cast every 14 seconds without pause, winning every one! Another user account had won two duels a minute for 24 hours without rest, house points were also deducted from that account.
We have invited anyone who has had house points deducted, but can show that the points were actually earned fairly, to contact the Pottermore team and their points may be re-instated. For those that do contact us, we will ensure that we review your cases with great care and restore fairly earned points, and will use that information to further improve our measures to detect true foul play.
