The 2014 Quidditch World Cup quarter-finals got off to a rocky start with the Brazil versus Wales match. Although the great skill of many players was excellently showcased, vicious fouls and violent behaviour coloured the game.The grudge between the two countries began during the early days of the tournament, when Brazilian manager José Barboza called the Welsh Chasers ‘talentless hags’, although he later claimed his remarks had been taken out of context.
Welsh manager Gwenog Jones, whom many believe is the reason behind the International Confederation of Wizards’ Quidditch Committee’s ban on ‘managerial trash talk’, today caused even more trouble for her team, and is currently in custody after her disruptive behaviour before and after the match.
