First Round: USA versus Jamaica

Read all about it! In a special edition of the Daily Prophet, Ginny Potter reports on the final decision of the controversial first round match between USA and Jamaica in the Quidditch World Cup.

The eventful match ended in an investigation by authorities after the (many felt, convenient) collapse of Jamaican Keeper Kquewanda Bailey moments before US Seeker Darius Smackhammer caught the Snitch, resulting in a narrow victory for the US team.

An amendment to the rule of Quidditch in 1849 stipulates that any crowd member casting jinxes or spells on a player will result in an automatic forfeit of the match for their team, whether or not the team ordered or approved of the magic performed.

Following an inquiry into Bailey’s collapse, authorities have now agreed on and confirmed the final match result. Read Ginny’s report in the Daily Prophet offices, and find out which team made it through to the quarter-finals!

Earlier today we asked what you thought the reason for Jamaican Keeper Kquewanda Bailey’s collapse was. You may be interested to know that 42% thought it was sabotage by a US supporter in the crowd, 11% thought it was sabotage by a Jamaican supporter in the crowd and 47% thought it was caused by external factors not related to sabotage. Read today’s special edition of the Daily Prophet to find out who was right!
