This week is house pride week and we are dedicating a day to each of the houses, starting with Gryffindor. We will be using the standings of the last Pottermore House Cup, which means that today is Gryffindor’s house pride day, as it’s the house that won the last House Cup.

As house pride is all about celebrating the pride of belonging to your house, we’ve created some themed artwork for you to display on your Facebook or Twitter account if you have one. We have also organised some polls and trivia for you to enjoy, and we’ll be sharing some of the great house-themed fan art from the Pottermore Galleries.

But it’s also down to you to make this celebration great: Share your tweets with the hashtag #GryffindorPride#HousePride and we will retweet our favorites and feature them here on the Insider!

It’s certainly been the most competitive Pottermore House Cup to date, but after millions of duels fought and potions brewed, the third Pottermore House Cup was awarded to Slytherin on Thursday April 25.

We would like to congratulate Slytherin on winning the third Pottermore House Cup. However, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff all deserve a mention, as this was the closest run Pottermore House Cup so far.

Although Hufflepuff were in the lead for many weeks, during late March the point difference between the four houses became almost non-existent. Slytherin sprang into first place closely followed by Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. During the last days of the competition Gryffindor moved to third place and Hufflepuff closed the gap between themselves and Slytherin from over 500,000 to less than 300,000 points. Unfortunately Hufflepuff just weren’t able to come back in such a short space of time.

From Thursday April 24 to Sunday April 28, the Pottermore House Cup award ceremony could be enjoyed in the Great Hall. In case you missed it, we recorded it and you will be able to play it below.

As winners of the third Pottermore House Cup, Slytherin members will get early access to a Monstrose Magpies badge. The Montrose Magpies, as all Quidditch fans know, are the most successful Quidditch team in British and Irish league history. Members of Ravenclaw, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff will be able to collect this badge from one of the Moments in the next instalment of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

The house points have now been re-set, so it’s time to get your wands ready for duelling and start brewing potions to help your house win the next Pottermore House Cup. The stakes are higher than ever, will Slytherin continue its impressive performance and hold the title? Will Gryffindor be able to match Slytherin’s record with a second win? Or will Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw earn the glory that their houses deserve? Your skills at duelling and brewing will decide!

We've no doubt that at this time of year many of you are revising for exams, toiling away behind a pile of books and perhaps some of you are wishing you were preparing for Hogwarts exams instead.

If that sounds like you, why not take a quick break to answer our poll question?

And if you are revising for Muggle exams, good luck! We hope you're able to prove that you're an 'insufferable know-it-all', just like Hermione.

We know that at this time of the year many of you are revising for exams, so last week we created a poll to see if there were any Hogwarts subject that you’d rather be revising instead. The results are in, and you can find them in the graph below:

One of Harry Potter’s discoveries when he first boards the Hogwarts Express is that sweets in the wizarding world are not always exactly sweet.

Throughout the Harry Potter books we read about the different Bertie Bott’s Every-Flavour Beans and while many of these flavours sound delicious, others are flavours that you’d probably rather stay away from.

Albus Dumbeldore was unfortunate enough to try a vomit-flavoured bean, and George Weasley reckoned that he once had a bogey-flavoured one, but which of these Bertie Bott's Every-Flavour Beans would you most fear eating?

Users’ avatars can stroll the cobbled streets of Diagon Alley and board the Hogwarts express, as well as partaking in four mini-games, including an illicit Wizard’s Duel and a Pottermore quiz.
And as of today there’s even more to enjoy.

If you’ve been sorted on Pottermore.com and you’ve linked your account with your PSN ID, you can now step inside the Great Hall where you will be able view your own Sorting Ceremony beneath the enchanted ceiling and floating candles.

Relax in your common room and meet fellow members of your Hogwarts house.

    Practise Charms
Master the art of levitation in this new and exciting Charms mini-game. Levitate a feather and guide it through maze after maze of enchanted obstacles. Beat the clock for maximum points!

Throughout the books different characters, including Albus Dumbledore, have the misfortune of trying some rather unsavoury Bertie Bott’s beans.

Last week we asked you which Every-Flavour Bean you would most fear eating, and the results can now be found below.

Unsurprisingly perhaps, the flavour the Pottermore community would most fear eating is earwax. However, we’re surprised to discover that approximately 1 in 2 of you would rather have an earwax-flavoured bean than any other flavour. For instance, liver and tripe-flavoured beans each have approximately 15% of the votes.

We’re also surprised that Facebook fans and Pottermore Insider users seem to have different tastes when it comes to the second flavour they most fear eating: On the Pottermore Insider, readers would rather eat a tripe -flavoured bean than a liver one, whereas Facebook fans would prefer the liver-flavoured bean!

Do you find these results surprising? What flavour did you vote? Tell us on our Facebook page or via Twitter.

  • 06/05/13--07:59: Happy Birthday Draco Malfoy!
  • ‘My father’s next door buying my books and mother’s up the street looking at wands,’ said the boy. He had a bored, drawling voice. ‘Then I’m going to drag them off to look at racing brooms. I don’t see why first-years can’t have their own. I think I’ll bully father into getting me one and I’ll smuggle it in somehow.’

    - Chapter Five, Diagon Alley, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Today we’re wishing Draco Malfoy a happy birthday and, to celebrate, we’re highlighting some great drawings of Draco Malfoy submitted by the Pottermore Community during recent days.

We received lots of great submissions, and we’re sharing some of our favourites below, but you can view the full range in the Pottermore Galleries here.

Some exciting news for all Pottermore fans who own a PlayStation®3; the latest innovation from Pottermore and Sony was announced yesterday at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles, Wonderbook: Book of Potions.

Book of Potions follows on from the success of Book of Spells, in which PlayStation® 3 owners can learn to cast spells just like a student at Hogwarts, as Miranda Goshawk’s 200-year-old textbook comes to life in an augmented reality experience.

Now, with Wonderbook: Book of Potions, Pottermore fans who own a PlayStation® 3 will be able to add to their wizarding education by learning to brew potions. Players will find out if they have what it takes to become a potions champion as they compete for the Golden Cauldron, guided by the talented potioneer Zygmunt Budge – a brand new character from the imagination of J.K. Rowling.

Wonderbook: Book of Potions will be launched later this year. If you’re a PlayStation® 3 owner and can’t wait to begin learning magic, you can find out more about the first title for Wonderbook, Book of Spells (available now), by watching the video below:

Or, step inside Pottermore at PlayStation Home for free on your PlayStation® 3 to enjoy select Moments from Pottermore.com in 3D, which you can explore with your very own avatar. Find out more by watching the latest trailer:

‘Thank goodness you found me! I’ve been out here for hours. I couldn’t remember the new password to get in to bed.’
    - Chapter Nine, The Midnight Duel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

The password to the Gryffindor common room is changed numerous times during Harry’s first three years at Hogwarts, much to the distress of those with a bad memory, like Neville.

Which of these Gryffindor common room passwords, used during Harry’s first three years, is your favourite?

Every day, we receive lots of fantastic fan art from members of the Pottermore community. Whether you depict Dementors, dragons, Dungbombs or the Dursleys, your creativity never fails to amaze us, and the other members of the Pottermore community.

We want to encourage more of you to upload your artistic creations, so we have put together a quick guide on how to upload your artwork on Pottermore.com, in case there’s any confusion.

    Step 1: Express your creativity!

Whether you use coloured pencils and paper, highlighter pens, charcoal or a computer programme, we want to see your depiction of absolutely anything from the Harry Potter stories, or from Pottermore.com.

For instance, here’s a depiction of Fred and George submitted by QueenStorm18649.

You can upload drawings of characters, places, objects, books, spells and creatures on their specific pages on Pottermore.com. The more imaginative and original, the better!

Step 2: Make sure the file is not too big

Scan your drawing, or take a digital photo of it, and make sure the file matches one of these formats: PNG, GIF, JPG/JPEG. Make sure that the file is less than 5 megabytes in size, or it won’t upload (if the file is larger, there are some programmes available that will help shrink it).

Then save the file onto your computer. Make sure you remember where you save it, as you’ll need to find it later when you’re on Pottermore.com.

    Step 3: Upload your creation!

Now your creation is ready to be uploaded to Pottermore.com, and you only need to go to the page that matches the character, place, object, spell or creature that you have depicted. For instance, if you’ve drawn a picture of Professor Dumbledore, you can find any chapter where he appears under the list of characters you can read about (like this one). Then click on Professor Dumbledore to view the page all about him.

Scroll to the bottom of the Professor Dumbledore page, where you will find the Drawings and pictures section. You will notice the ‘Add a drawing’ button in the bottom right hand corner of the page.

Click on it, and then click on ‘Browse’ to browse the files on your computer and find your drawing.

Once you’ve uploaded your drawing to Pottermore.com, it will be sent to our team of moderators so that they can check that it follows the moderation guidelines, so don’t worry if you can’t see your picture in the gallery right away –  they will try to review it as soon as possible! Once your picture has been checked, it will appear on the page alongside all the other great drawings submitted by your fellow Pottermore community members!

    Important:

If your image is not appearing in the gallery, it could be because our moderation team cannot accept the image. To help avoid this, we’ve outlined the top reasons why images might not pass moderation below:

-If the picture submitted is a photograph of a person, object or place
-If the image contains the real name of the person who drew it (Please do use your Pottermore username instead, if you’d like)

So, what are you waiting for?

Show us your creativity by uploading your drawings and pictures on Pottermore.com for other members of the Pottermore community to enjoy!

Every day the Pottermore community grows, with new students being sorted into each of the four houses by the Sorting Hat.

Some new users most enjoy reading the exclusive J.K. Rowling content and exploring the Moments, some prefer engaging with fellow students in the Great Hall or in their common room, and others have set about earning points for their house by brewing perfect potions or winning duels against their opponents.

Today we’re pleased to highlight the top duellers out of all the new students who joined Pottermore.com during the last week.

    Welcome all new Pottermore.com members!
